Often the home you purchased and lived in during the duration of your marriage is a huge point of argument throughout the divorce process. Your county quit claim deed forms need to be filled out to remove the name from the deed itself. This isn' a difficult process, but it does often require a trip to your county courthouse, unless you have lawyers to handle it for you. Once the forms are filed, and the process is complete you have to notify the other parties involved.

The mortgage company needs to be made aware of any changes to the deed. Often they will simply request a copy of the quit claim deed, and remove the name of the person that is no longer an interested party from the mortgage information. The same process generally needs to be done with your home insurance company as well. Most insurance companies are considered to have an interest in your home, since they are the ones who pay if something happens.
